CAMP DIRECTOR
Kendra Shaw
Kendra has worked at KPC as a summer camp instructor since 2022 and is excited to be returning this year as the Camp Director. Kendra has been paddling ever since her family won a free KPC membership in a raffle. She now enjoys many different styles of paddling, including outrigger canoe racing. She most recently took part in the 2024 IVF World Sprint Championships in Hawaii. When she isn’t at KPC, Kendra is studying biochemistry at UBCO to prepare for a career in medicine. In her free time, she enjoys reading, crocheting, riding her bike, and cross-country skiing.
As Camp Director, Kendra started in the spring and is responsible for planning the daily & weekly schedule for each camp, weekly themes & special activities, staff training & supervision, and guiding the whole week to be the best possible for everyone at camp.

SECTION HEADS
Claire Pasenau
Claire is excited to be returning for this summer as the Section Head for the Discover age group. Last summer, Claire had the opportunity to compete in the IVF World Sprint Championships for outrigger canoeing in Hilo, Hawaii.
During the school year, Claire studies Biochemistry at the University of Calgary. Along with paddling, Claire enjoys other sports including volleyball, golf, and basketball. She is very excited to help make this year at KPC a successful environment for learning to paddle and having fun!

Alexa Kormany
This is Alexa’s first year at KPC, and she is excited to be working this year as the Section Head for FUNdamentals. She has previous experience teaching swim lessons and working as a lifeguard. Alexa is currently studying mining engineering at Queen’s University and is passionate about sustainability and the environment. In her free time, Alexa enjoys reading, hiking, and spending time outdoors.

Carson Penner
Carson is excited to return for his 4th year at Kelowna Paddle Centre as one of the Section Heads for the Adventure age group. Carson loves paddle sports and has participated in several multi-day paddling adventures around the Sunshine Coast, Saturna Island, and Haida Gwaii.
In the fall, he will be heading into Sciences at UBCO majoring in Biochemistry. Carson is passionate about the outdoors and enjoys snowboarding, playing rugby, golfing and going to the gym in his free time.

Callum Sutton-Macmillan
Callum has been paddling for 10 years and working at KPC for the last 5. This year, he is returning as one of the Section Heads for the Adventure group. He has been lucky to compete and paddle all over the world, including representing Canada in the 2022 and 2024 U19 World Outrigger Championships. He loves sharing his passion for paddling and the outdoors with kids.
Next year, Callum will be entering his first year of engineering at UBCO and is hoping to make the Canadian outrigger national team heading to Singapore in 2026.

GROUP LEADERS
Addison Anonby
This is Addison’s first year at KPC, and she’s super excited to be working as a Group Leader for the Discover age group! Previously, she has worked for two summers at an overnight summer camp and volunteered there for another two.
During the school year, Addison is studying Engineering at the University of British Columbia and is passionate about environmental sustainability. In her spare time, she loves reading, hiking, learning languages, and making all kinds of crafts. She can’t wait to help make this year at KPC an awesome one!

Maya Andruchow
This is Maya’s first year as a staff member at KPC, and she is really looking forward to working with camp participants to make their experience as fun and educational as possible.
Maya will be entering her first year of post-secondary in the fall and will be taking sciences at the University of Alberta while playing on the varsity volleyball team.
Maya has a passion for everything outdoors, and enjoys hiking, biking, skiing, and playing pickleball and spikeball in her free time.

Jocelyn Oland
This is Jocelyn’s first year at KPC, and she’s thrilled to be joining the team as a part-time Group Leader. She brings valuable experience from three summers at an overnight camp, as well as a background in teaching dance classes for both children and adults.
During the year, Jocelyn studies English and History at the University of Victoria and is especially passionate about human rights and community engagement. Outside of school and work, she loves camping, dancing, photography, and getting lost in a good book.

Weston Penninga
This is Weston’s third year at the Paddle Centre, and he is excited to be returning as a Group Leader this year. Known for an energetic approach and positive attitude, Weston excels at creating an inclusive environment for all campers.
With a passion for paddling and a natural ability to be a leader, he ensures that each camper feels supported to achieve their goals. With a focus on safety and fun, Weston loves teaching paddling skills while building lasting memories.

Kai Redman
This is Kai’s second year at KPC, and he is super excited for another awesome summer. Kai currently attends Kelowna Secondary and enjoys staying active and being outdoors as much as possible. In his free time, Kai loves golfing, biking, running, skiing and paddling.
Kai first got into paddling when he took part in the first ever KPC paddle camp. He can’t wait to help campers reach their paddling goals and have fun this summer!

Jaden Hendren
This is Jaden’s first year as a Group Leader at Kelowna Paddle Centre! He is a fun and energetic individual who has a passion for staying active and enjoying the outdoors. Jaden has enjoyed coaching basketball and volleyball and can’t wait to add paddling to the list!
During the school year, he will be attending the University of British Columbia to study Science. When Jaden’s not on the water, you can probably find him on the golf course or hanging out with Weston.

Tyler Mottershead
Hello campers and parents! Meet Tyler, a passionate paddler who has been involved in the sport for over 10 years. He started out as a camper back when the camp was just getting started. Over many fun-filled summers, he developed a strong love for stand-up paddle boarding, surfskis, and especially the outrigger canoe.
Tyler brings a creative approach to helping kids grow as paddlers, always fostering a fun and inspiring environment. His outgoing and enthusiastic personality has played a big role in building a positive, welcoming camp culture for his groups that his campers love.

Rowan Bird
Rowan has been a passionate member of the Kelowna Paddle Centre for over 8 years and recently represented Canada in Hilo, Hawaii. His experience in paddling is second to none, as is his dedication.
Whether he’s helping out around the centre, sharing technique tips, or preparing for his next race, Rowan brings energy, focus, and a genuine love for paddling to the community.

Darwyn Kormany
This is Darwyn’s fourth summer at KPC, and she’s so excited to be back for another fun-filled year on the water!
She’s been paddling for as long as she can remember and can’t wait to share her love for the sport with campers. Whether it’s helping them improve or just making sure they’re having a blast, Darwyn’s all in.
In her free time, you’ll usually find her outside, playing hockey or on the golf course. This fall, she’s off to Oregon to study physics and play varsity golf.

Danté Grootjes
This is Danté’s third season as an instructor at KPC and is beyond excited to return to the club and provide a safe, engaging and enjoyable environment for all ages! Danté has spent the last two seasons working with everyone from fundamentals to our senior outrigger crew.
Throughout the school year, Danté studies at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School where he works towards a career in classical ballet. If you can’t find Danté in the studio or out paddling, he is probably outdoors capturing the little moments through photography or film.

Teagyn Privé
Teagyn is excited to be joining KPC for her first summer. She brings a strong passion for trades and is currently getting a head start on her career by attending trade school at OC for electrical while still attending Kelowna Secondary.
Outside of work, Teagyn enjoys playing basketball, working on cars, and spending time with her 7 younger siblings. She also loves to hike and spend time outdoors, finding peace and energy in nature.
Teagyn is thrilled to be part of the KPC team and is looking forward to sharing her energy and enthusiasm with campers this summer!

McKenna Marzinzik
McKenna has just graduated from Kelowna Secondary School and is thrilled to be joining the team at KPC as a group leader this summer!Â
With a passion for working with kids, McKenna is excited to help create unforgettable memories, build connections, and bring fun and creativity to every day at camp. She loves getting lost in a good book and has a love for the natural world around her.

Carsen Carter
Carsen is a returning Group Leader, back for her second summer at Paddle Camp. She brings strong leadership, a positive attitude, and a love for helping campers grow both on and off the water.
When she’s not at camp, Carsen enjoys playing basketball and ultimate frisbee. This fall, she’ll be heading to UBC Okanagan to begin her studies in engineering. She’s excited for another summer of paddling adventures and fun in the sun!

KPC GENERAL MANAGER
The Kelowna Paddle Centre General Manager, Fraser McIntosh, has a wealth of experience leading camp and other sports programs. This includes five summers as a climbing instructor & adventure learning facilitator at traditional overnight camps, four summers as a Camp Director for Provincial sport organizations, and over a decade of experience as a professional coach.
As the KPC General Manager, Fraser completes the majority of off-season planning for the camps programs. During the summer he provides oversight and mentorship to the summer camp staff, including leading staff training, reviewing & approving weekly programs, and assisting with issues or incidents if necessary. In addition to providing direct support for the summer camp programs, Fraser works hard to keep the centre running smoothly at all times.
